Creamy Chocolate Pudding

IMG_5493

Whenever we eat avocados, the kids make horrible faces, turn their noses up in disgust and say, “ewwww.” I always tell them that they can’t really say that they don’t like something until they try it, but this is one thing that they refuse to give a go.

Today I actually got the girls to eat (and enjoy) avocados!

The best part is that they have no idea that they ate an avocado because it was ever so deliciously disguised as creamy chocolate pudding!

Hehehe. Sneaky mom, I know.

Creamy Chocolate Pudding

Makes four 1/2 cup servings

  • 2 large ripe avocados
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions

Cut the avocados in half and remove the pits. Spoon the flesh of the avocados into a food processor.

Add the cocoa powder, maple syrup, milk and vanilla.

Blend on high until combined and smooth.

Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes or serve as is. We added sliced banana to ours.

They love this pudding so much that I am debating whether or not to tell them that it is made from avocados. I think that I will just keep it my delicious little secret.  😉

  1. Great idea! It looks really rich, like a cooked pudding. I’ll be trying this one soon.

Come to think about it, I have an avocado in the fridge right now, just waiting for something to do…. 🙂

  8. I agree, making avocados into pudding is a great way of incorporating it to the diet. I have been doing this for awhile and I use dark chocolate almond milk (instead of cocoa powder) with some Greek yogurt. Then blend it (i use an immersion blender). I topped it off on whatever t I got, granola or berries or bananas. Yum!

  9. I love reading your blog and have been finding something that catches my interest everyday. I just made this pudding for my family tonight. While my husband and I loved the richness of the chocolate, my teenage boys tried it but knowing it was vegan immediately turned them off. Yes, I admit I raised them wrong…but I can’t make them young again and start all over…unfortunately. I’d love to raise them all over again. I know you are enjoying your girls and I appreciate you sharing them with your readers. 🙂

  14. I received some avocados from a friend last week,so I finally got to make this today when they ripened, yay!i used coconut sugar syrup instead of maple syrup since it’s a lot cheaper here. Both girls loved it! We dipped pretzels into it as well. And I blended extra soymilk with half of it and made it into fudgesicles!

  15. This is by all means the best chocolatey dessert I’ve ever tasted! I love sweet treats and being on a vegan diet makes it really challenging.. and time consuming too. I just made this pudding for breakfast and I loved it! It was done in almost no time. Also just made a tray of your cashew butter coconut rice crispies thing! Can’t wait to taste them.. Thank you so much you’re amazing! 🙂

  17. Hi there! I don’t normally comment on blogs, but wow. Your recipe just changed my life. Seems silly, but I had pancreatic surgery in 2011 and have been having to take medication to be able to eat “normal” foods. Recently a friend turned me on to the OMNI diet, which cuts any unnatural foods completely out of my diet. I have been medication free for 2 weeks, but was really craving chocolate. I made this and honestly cried a little. Not only did I love it, but my kids loved it too. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!
