10 Super-Healthy Sugar-Free Vegan Snacks

Here is a list of our family’s top 10 favorite vegan snacks. Simple, easy, delicious and nutritious!

1. Trail Mix

Kesa loves her trail mix and it is something I always feel good about giving my kids for a snack. Usually we just throw together whatever nuts and dried fruit that we have in the cupboard. That is the beauty with trail mix, anything goes. Here are some ideas.

  • Almonds
  • Cashews
  • Pecans
  • Sunflower Seeds
  • Walnuts
  • Pistachios
  • Chopped Apricots
  • Dried Cranberries
  • Raisins
  • Banana Chips

2. Raw Vegetables and Creamy Garlic Hummus

Raw vegetables are always a good choice, especially when a meal is just around the corner. Not too filling, but extremely satisfying when dipped in Creamy Garlic Hummus!

Here are some ideas.

  • Sliced Cucumber
  • Carrot Sticks
  • Sliced Peppers
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower

3. Nutty Peanut Butter Raisin Trail Bars

I love these trail bars! They are full of good things, oats, peanut butter, sunflower seeds, pecans, and raisins. They are also oil-free and sugar-free too! I came up with this recipe because I could find no such treasure anywhere and figured that the world needed these. An extremely healthy and energizing snack.

4. Creamy Chocolate Pudding

Avocados are deliciously disguised in this smooth and creamy chocolate pudding. Sweetened with pure maple syrup, this is a decadent non-dairy treat that my kids always go crazy for. Add some sliced bananas or fresh berries for an even healthier treat.

5. Cashew Butter Banana Bites

You can make these using whatever nut butter you like, but the combination of cashew and banana really pairs well and is a nice break from regular peanut butter and banana. If you are feeling especially crafty, you can turn these banana bites into little turtles (or whatever else your imagination can come up with) to make them even more kid-friendly.

6. Air-Popped Popcorn

So easy to make and so fun! My kids always love popcorn plain, sprinkled with cinnamon or sea salt or drizzled with melted vegan margarine for even more of a treat.

7. Granola

Coconut Apricot Cookie Granola is my definite favorite and the girls really love the Chocolate Cherry Almond Granola. I love making granola to have as a perfect afternoon pick-me-up because I run on pure maple syrup. This is a perfect sweet and healthy snack to have anytime that will definitely curb your hunger.

8. Apple Sandwiches

This is the only way my kids like to eat apples now. Cut the apple horizontally into half inch slices and then use small star or heart shaped cookie cutters to cut away the core in the center of each apple slice. Spread with your favorite nut butter and top with raisins or chopped nuts. The kids go crazy for these!

9. Coconut Cashew Butter Crispy Squares

A nice twist on a long time favorite treat. These crispy rice squares are made with cashew butter and shredded coconut.

10. Fresh Fruit with Vanilla Cashew Butter Fruit Dip

A smooth and creamy satisfying fruit dip for apple slices, bananas, pears or strawberries. This dip is also great in oatmeal, on rice cakes or on a spoon. 😉

Vanilla Cashew Butter Fruit Dip

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup cashew butter
  • 1/2 cup soy milk (vanilla soy milk adds even more vanilla flavor)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Blend all ingredients together in a food processor until smooth. Serve with fresh fruit.

Happy Snacking! 🙂

  1. Tiffany,
thankyou so much for this compilation! It is on my favourite list already:-) I also really appreciate your vegan and sugar free recipes! I envy that you live so close to the source of maple syrup!!!!! Here in Australia it is hard to find in a bigger bottle than 200ml and it is quite expensive at about $8 a bottle! Having said that it is a priority on our shopping list! Tiffany have you used much agave in your cooking? I am wondering how that might work in some of your recipes? Keep up the great work, I am keen to buy your book ( and copies for family and friends) when published and I love my daily dose of your wonderful blog:-) Helen

    • Hi Helen! I am glad that the syrup (although fairly pricey) is affordable where we live. I have used agave in recipes, but I just much prefer the taste of maple syrup. I have read that you can substitute agave for maple syrup in a recipe using the same portions. You could certainly try that out if you prefer to. Thanks for your comment! 🙂

  2. Hi Tiffany
Thanks for stopping by my blog! 🙂

I love this and once again I am reminded how much I love cashew butter…. and wish my kids did not go to a “nut sensitive” school. It really does make sending them to school with healthy vegan options difficult. I’ve recently discovered sunflower butter — i love it and when I use it for their lunches I feel like I’m getting away with something. I’m going to try the Crispy squares with sunbutter and see how it goes. My kids would be thrilled to have a Rice Crispy treat again,

  3. Oh, read this post at exactly the right time. I decided to go sugar free in my pregnancy a few weeks ago and have been crazing sweets like mad since then! Definitely book-marking this one 🙂

  5. These are excellent!I like this, as it is super easy, it’s a no bake recipe, one that is sugar free and delicious. I enjoyed every mouthful! I foresee making thesegranola bars frequently.. I have found some good tips at the Sheffa foods blog that worked pretty well. I would say such blogs give us some great ideas for making a wide variety of recipes.
