My Blog/My Home

Sometimes in the blogging world, you get some not-so-nice people come along and leave some not-so-nice comments on your blog. It comes with the territory. I have thought about this a lot and it used to really upset me, but now I know that other people’s comments and criticisms can only bother me if I let them. I know that what I am doing is right for myself and my family and that is all that should matter. I blog my reality, my thoughts and my life. I do not force people to read what I write or advertise my blog and I do not write what I think others want to hear to get approval. Rather, I leave my blog as a space for people who are interested to share in my journey and connect with me on our similar shared interests, whether that is being a mother, a vegan or a truth-seeker, etc.

I like to think of my blog as my home. The door is open and I welcome others to come on in. Now I just have to ask, if you were a guest at someone’s house, would you criticize the way they keep their home or arrange their furniture? If you were welcomed into someone’s house, would you put them down and verbally abuse them in their own personal space?

If you wouldn’t do these things to someone in person, why is it OK to do them behind a computer screen when you visit someone’s blog, youtube channel or site? And if you really don’t like something (a blog, video, music, etc.), why are you even reading, watching or listening to it, let alone taking the time to leave a nasty comment? If you find something to be bothersome or offensive, why not save yourself the upset and focus instead on what makes you happy and what you enjoy instead? Why waste your time? This just doesn’t make sense to me.

Anyway, those are some of my thoughts on the issue.

Remember what Thumper taught us in Bambi?

  1. I hear ya! Some of the comments I get, especially on certain sites I write for, are so viscous. It seems like it’s much easier for folks to be nasty from behind the anonymity of the keyboard. Would these trolls and other nasty commenters ever speak that way to your face? Doubtful. I’m sorry that someone was nasty to you…it sounds like your attitude about it is a really healthy one, at least!

  2. Simply un-thinkable that someone could have the lack of common decency to be nasty to you. YOU! A sweet mother of three who is trying to make the world a better place!
I shutter to think what they are doing to their dog right now….
