I hope that you are all enjoying your last bit of summer! Here it has been very rainy off and on. Craig has been on holidays this week and will be again next week and we had planned to go camping, but the weather has not been so good, so we are just staying around home and enjoying family time.
Things are still up in the air with me here about keeping this blog. I have actually run out of space right now to keep it going and uploading any pictures or videos, so I am seeing if I should keep it up, take a break or just start somewhere new. I think the fact that it is about to expire and has run out of space has forced me to a point of having to make a decision. I do still think it may be a good resource for families, but I also am quite ready to move on from recipes and focus more on the spiritual aspect of myself and my life and perhaps share insights into that, a new me and a new chapter of my life and the life of our family. More on spirituality, Waldorf homeschooling, love, gratitude and family life.
Missing all of my readers and friends these days and wanted to drop a note to say you are thought of and appreciated in my life! π
I am in the midst of beginning a new homeschooling year. Autumn is blossoming into such a fine young lady and will be 10 in October. Right now she is going through the 9-10 year change and so life has been difficult for her as she is maturing from a child to a tween. Kesa is still her sweet little innocent and wise beyond her years self and both girls are really into Rainbow Loom bracelets these days.
Serafina’s official “autism” diagnosis is on September 2nd. She is into everything and is very curious about the world. She loves nature and is our very special child. I have been reading a lot of Doreen Virtue and other spiritual things these days and have learned so much about the spiritual side of what autism really is. Reading about Crystal children has really opened my eyes! This has helped me a lot in letting go of my fears of the autism label and the fearful manifestations of what the future will be like. I have always believed that our minds and thoughts are very powerful and that manifestation is real and I have been seeing more and more in life how my thoughts about things really do create my reality. When we hold thoughts of love and positivity, we create a loving and positive future. When we hold thoughts of fear, negativity, anxiety, worry and doubt, we create a negative, fearful future life for ourselves. We manifest what we think and believe, this includes the thoughts we hold about other people as well. This whole gift of having a child diagnosed as autistic has significantly deepened my faith in the reality of spirituality and the energy that we project with our thoughts and the energy that exists all around us, inside us and in our world. She is continually helping me to awaken.
I am still hard at work on my spiritual studies and have maintained my yoga practice consistently for almost one year now. It will be one year of consistent daily (one hour) yoga for me on September 9th, with the exception of a few days! I feel very healthy and fit physically and spiritually. I have got myself back on track with my vegan and organic diet and lifestyle. We had had a little stumble in this for a while as I felt in a slump and had been buying foods and things that I didn’t really want to. You know, sometimes you wonder if you are really making a difference or if it really matters when it seems like you are the only one who cares (blah, blah, blah, ego talk). I have come to the point where I accept that I am a sensitive light worker and am here to be healthy and happy so that I can spread love and light to others, especially in my family, being the best mother and wife that I can be and modelling a good example for my children, teaching them to not be afraid to just be healthy and happy and an individual. I personally cannot tolerate foods that contain low vibrations or household cleaners and scents that contain chemicals (make-up) and have always felt this way since I was a child. It just doesn’t feel right for me. I also have always loved nature and being outside, especially being in and near the water. I am a pretty natural girl. That is just who I am.
I think I have come to the point where I have finally decided that even though to others I may seem abnormal, weird or too sensitive, I need to just be me and do what feels right for my body, soul and spirit. Of course, it is always difficult to be judged and I know that fear is a mass epidemic among us all. We all struggle with losing ourselves continually to find ourselves again and rise above even higher on our journey through life. I have really matured to the point where I am ready to no longer let that fear control my life and keep me from being myself and being happy and free. It just isn’t worth it to suppress yourself to make others happy or try to “fit in” or just keep your ego identification alive. My hope and prayer for all people is that they can come to that place of self-acceptance and self-love and no longer fear being who they are and sharing their love and light and talents and abilities with the world. To find out what makes them happy and no longer feel the fear of being different or judged by others, and to just be happy and free. I know how hard it is to be judged and that it is especially hard when it is your family or close relations who view you through those judgemental eyes, when you take on a path of spiritual growth and transformation and are seen as changed, weird or different, but we all need to shine our own unique light in the darkness and overcome our fears, so that is my hope for us all on this planet. Love, light and above all, acceptance of one another and a realization that we really all do need each other and that we need each other to be our unique and individual selves. This is the only way that we will truly learn the meaning of love, which is what I believe we are here for.
What have you been up to? I would love to hear from you!
Much Love,
Tiffany
So nice to see a little update from you. You have been in my thoughts.
Many wonderful thoughts in your post today. As a former “people pleaser”, who is now living life on my own terms, regardless of what others think, many of your words hit home with me. It is tough to be different in this world, but I have learned that I am the most happy and content when I am myself, and let go of the worry and fear that others are judging me or the life I lead. It took me a long time (like 40 years) to get to this place π And in the process of being and accepting who I am, I did lose friends, or at least people who I thought were friends. That was difficult at first, but looking back, it was exactly what was necessary for me to move along this path I walk.
Keep shining your light my friend, it is bright, beautiful and so full of love. I do hope you will continue to blog, either here, or in a new space.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and all the best on the 2nd. xo

I always wondered who determined what “normal” is. If I’m thought of as strange, crazy or wierd, I embrace it! Becoming a plant based eater at 50 threw a lot of people out of whack. Some of them don’t invite us for meals like they used to, but that’s okay. I have other friends who’ve just accepted it. They don’t mind if I bring something for myself. I go to see them, not the food. I’m so glad to hear you are back on the organic vegan path again! It will be great for Serafina as well as the entire family.
You are the only one responsible for your happiness! If others can’t accept your growth, that’s their problem. People don’t like anyone to be different from them. The same way some give you a hard time for diet choices. It’s really about their issues. I don’t try to make them eat vegan. It’s a personal choice.
I hope you don’t take the blog down for a while. I need to start printing off recipes before you do!
Stay true to yourself!

Hello,
Yes, summer does pass by rather quickly, and I find autumn has a way of creeping upon us almost unaware. I am enjoying these last few days of summer, but I love the fall season most, so I am eager for its arrival.
I am also embarking upon a new chapter of my life and I am happy to hear that you are about to start a new chapter as well. It has been a joy reading your blog.
So, regardless which direction you go (whether taking a break or switching your focus to homeschooling or spirituality) I am sure your newest endeavors will be laden with new adventures, beauty, growth, wisdom, creativity, insight, and love.
As for me, my summer has been filled with many lessons about self-love and self-acceptance. Thanks for sharing.
Take Care π

Lovely to hear from you again, Tiffany, and so happy you’ve discovered the positive aspect of Serafina’s case. I’m sure you’ll receive the results with the same positivity cause she’s so lovely! They’re saying positivity is a charactristic of the pure mind π
As for the site, we’ll love to learn more about education and spirituality of course even if it’s in a new place, but please keep this site up!
It was a sweet August for us here, free camping in tiny islands and sleeping on the sand under the stars.
Be happy! π

Do you practise yoga using books, the net or do you just improvise?

I used to do an Ashtanga yoga video with David Swenson, but I have been doing yoga for 4 years now consistently (different things, like Jivamukti yoga or just Rodney Yee stuff) and so nowadays I just make up my own routine and have music on in the background or listen to audio books at the same time since I have only so much time for me when I am busy taking care of everyone else. It is my hour for me, even if I am just doing it in the living room and they are around me playing. I also like to listen to audio books when we go for walks sometimes or if I go for a walk alone. Do you read Steiner or listen to his audio books? Do you know about this site http://www.rudolfsteineraudio.com/? I know you mentioned you were interested in the Steiner education. I am excited for our new homeschool year! This year I am doing Norse Mythology with Autumn. Kesa is going to start later, she is still very young, but the other day she was asking about learning to read. We read a Norse Mythology book to the girls last year and they really liked it (as did we). There are so many great stories out there! I love reading to my girls. Hope that you have a great day! π

I see, I am sure you are able to make up your routine after 4 years of yoga. This is what I usually do in summer or when we are on holidays π
As for Steiner audiobooks, thank you for the site, it’s lovely! Already downloaded the first one. Do you recommend listening to them in chronological order or pick up the one we’re interested in?
I haven’t done much reading on Steiner yet but being an educator here, I see myself moving towards a more ‘holistic’ way of teaching and looking for possible options. Plus, I would love my kids to be brought up without the stress of an exam-oriented educational system.
I’m sure Norse Mythology books are interesting and glad you’re enjoying them, too! I love myths and tales but sometimes feel weird when I listen to the classical fairy tales like the Little Red Riding Hood with the ‘bad’ wolf being narrated to the little ones. Or the fact that the always beautiful prince will finally find the beautiful princess and live happily ever after π
All the best for today dear Tiffany, be positive! π

You can listen to them however you want to. Some are lectures and some are his actual written works. The first book of his I ever read was The Spiritual Guidance of The Individual and Of Humanity. Then, The Gospel of Luke. I have listened to over 50 of his books and read many more. Both Craig and I are into Rudolf Steiner and own a lot of his material. I listened to all of the education lectures this winter. I don’t know if you are familiar with anthroposophy or his work at all, it is not for everyone.
A good education book is Human Values In Education. I also like The Kingdom of Childhood, The Essentials of Education and Practical Advice To Teachers. Steiner is not just about teaching, but about knowledge of the human being. Once we understand who we are, then we can educate the children in a proper way, according to how they are developing.
Steiner taught about the seven year cycles in our lives. The first cycle 0-7 years is when children learn primarily through imitation. 7-14 years, children learn through authority. They need someone who is a loving authority in their lives, someone that they can admire and look up to and trust. 15-21 is when children are finally awake in their intellect. Before this time they cannot think intellectually or form proper judgements or think critically. These forces are still asleep until they reach 14 years old. That is why we tell them stories that work on them without explaining the morals or intellectualizing everything before they reach the ages of 12-14, when this capacity begins to awaken. The stories can seem disturbing, but the children need those examples of “evil” or “bad” in their lives because it helps them to learn about morality and good and to remember not to be like the bad characters. Autumn used to get so mad at the bad guys or sad parts of stories and it was and is a very healthy thing for them. π
Most important is the example that we set for the children by who we are. If we do not care to work on ourselves and be a model of imitation and an example of a loving and trustworthy authority, we let them down. We really have to know our teaching material and also know ourselves, because they see right through us. We cannot pretend with children or hide ourselves, they are extremely intuitive and imitative and they are looking to us to give them what they need.
He also constantly emphasized that we should educate children as individuals because all children are unique and not to just simply teach from textbooks, but to really get to know the children and find out exactly what they need.
I love this method and am so glad to have found it. I think we have finally found what works for us. It sure does take a lot of research and planning and reflecting, but you will find what works for you too!
Have a great week!

Hi Tiffany π I guess with the site expiring, you’ll have to make a decision! Regardless of whether you start another blog or not I do hope that you keep this one up as a reference. All of your wonderful posts, insights, and recipes are still useful for so many! All of your recipes shared on pinterest would link back to nothing if this blog disappears. Plus then I can’t leave you comments for some of the recipes when we try them π
I’m glad you have found some peace about Serafina’s diagnosis. I 100% agree about how we manifest our own futures. Something I have been working on a lot in the past year and a half. It’s a process to be sure! My husband and I have spent a lot of time in the past year teaching that to Svara as well. She has changed a lot from it. Previously she would complain a lot, say a lot that she doesn’t like herself (horrible for me a mother to hear!) and generally was negative about a lot of things. I know now that it was, unfortunately, because of us that she did that. Once we started changing and taught her how to change, things started happening. One silly example is we were driving around looking for a playground. Svara said “It would be awesome if we could find a playground shaped like a ship!” I was thinking that would be far fetched, but I said “sure would!”. The first playground we passed that we could access was, go figure, designed to look like a ship!! Great manifesting, Svara!
Keep on shining and being yourself!
p.s. today Svara made your non bake peanut butter oatmeal raisin cookies. They are chilling in the fridge, can’t wait to make them! (she loves your cookbook because it is easy for her to read and understand, she keeps picking out recipes that she can make almost all by herself.)

Thanks so much Honey! I have missed your comments! I totally believe in our ability to manifest our future. We are all doing it all the time unconsciously anyway, but when we become aware of it and start to actually visualize and ask for what we want and ask for and believe in positive outcomes, then we see what power our thoughts actually have. I appreciate your encouragement about this blog too. I know that no matter what, I will keep it up anyway for the recipe references and I know that there are people who like to read it too. π
Here it is getting colder everyday, almost time for another winter. I can’t believe how much time has gone by! Our summer just flew by and I feel like I rarely have blogged in a year, but I am ready to come back to it and to share and connect more again!
Hope that you have a great rest of the week!
