One of my favorite things to do is to go for a walk right in the morning when the sun is just coming up. In fact it is my favorite thing to do (that and morning yoga when the sun is coming up).
Sometimes I go alone and listen to Rudolf Stiener audio books or other audio books, other times Autumn comes with me. Both ways are awesome. I love listening to books and taking time to absorb spiritual wisdom. I also love spending time with my girl and making memories together.
These days we are doing math on our walks again. We recite times tables and ask each other multiplication and division questions whole to part, such as, “Into what number does eight go seven times?” Learning math from whole to part and mentally thinking things out is a great mental workout too. We also do math “stair counting,” where we count up four numbers at a time in time to our walking:
2, 4, 6, 8,
4, 6, 8, 10,
6, 8, 10, 12,
8, 10, 12, 14,
etc.
and then backwards,
24, 22, 20, 18,
22, 20, 18, 16,
20, 18, 16, 14,
18, 16, 14, 12,
etc.
I thought that I would take a video while out on our walk yesterday morning to share with you all. This is what a windy winter morning is like in Canada. We actually do not have much snow right now, but I thought that I would share what it looks like for those of you who don’t have any experience of winter or snow. I know a few of my close friends out there do not get any snow. Too bad for you! 😦 The snow flakes are sure beautiful!
I was narrating on the video, but you can’t tell because the wind was so loudly blowing into the speaker. The just of what I was saying was that I was showing you winter in Canada and how windy it can be out in the open areas where there is only farmland and prairies. It was such a cold north wind yesterday out in the open while I was doing the video, my hand nearly froze when I had it our of my mitt! Even though the wind is cold, it is still really nice. I mentioned in the video how that forceful wind is great for blowing all the negativite s*** away. I love to experience every day and every part of life that God has created, good and bad, hot and cold. I also like to make homeschooling fun. Doing math on a walk is way more fun than doing math with a pencil and paper, or at a computer.
So, here is a glimpse into a part of my morning routine. Getting outside is something I need to do every day, multiple times a day. I am a nature girl, for sure. Not even the strong north wind can stop me. I just bundle up and head out the door.
Who would want to miss that glorious sunshine??
Okay, after enjoying the beach and sunshine for the last 10 days I am not looking forward to coming back to winter 😦 I was kinda hoping it would be gone by the time I got back, boy was I wrong.

Wow! Wow! Wow!! This is soooo nice. After seeing the pictures I want to be there. I don’t get to see so much empty space where I live. The shadows in the video look so cool. Thanks for sharing this video.

Walking into the wind yesterday with a -34c windchill! Yikes! I’m going to stay in until it at least gets to the -20c range. Nice post and video tho.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful winter walk. I don’t live where it snows wayyyy out west in the USA. We usually have to make a long 3 hour drive to the mountains just to experience snow and stay in a cabin a few days. It’s quite magical and I can spend hours simply “taking in” the winter wonderland 🙂

Hi Tiffany. I always loved taking a walk after it snows because snow is so beautiful. I also like the picture of the snow theirs a snowflake on the picture that is a perfectly formed snowflake, that’s nice. I love the video too. I’ll probably never get to visit Canada so thank you for a clip of what it’s like in Canada. It was windy here in Baltimore last time it snowed and I liked it when the wind blew the snow up into little swirls that looked like snow tornadoes, and wow its so nice and peaceful having the wide open space to walk where you live. I would love that.

I love walking in the wide open spaces! Of course it is nicer when it is not a north wind, but it is still nice when it is windy too. I am glad that you enjoyed the video and the snowflake picture! Now it is starting to turn to spring. I guess winter just wanted one last say.
