Being a mother, raising my children is my life.
I have been scoffed at and put down by others for my role as a dedicated stay-at-home mother by people who simply do not understand why I would, “choose to homeschool and stay home with my kids.”
Maybe I am weird for choosing to homeschool and for the fact that I actually love being around my children and doing things with and for them (including mommy/daughter sleepovers). I love getting up early to homeschool plan and do yoga while the sun rises on the horizon. I love shopping for and preparing organic, natural foods for my family. I love spiritual science and studying, learning and growing everyday. I love going out for long walks in the sunshine and watching my kids thrive in a natural environment, coming up with imaginative games and spending time actually being kids not having to have been forced to grow up too quickly.
To me, all of these things are not a chore or a burden or some kind of ideal I force myself to adhere to: they are my life.
I know that I was born to be their mother. And although there are challenges and times of anxiety about just how I can raise them to their fullest potential (especially now with Serafina’s autism), I would never change my role and the life that we share together as a family.
Homeschooling is rewarding. Watching these girls grow up day by day and giving them a sacred space to thrive, imagine, and be creative in, is my purpose. Nurturing our family with a loving, peaceful, organic and natural environment gives me absolute joy.
People can question it, misunderstand it, judge it, or be jealous of it, but at the end of the day, I will still be grateful for our blessings. I may be wounded by others opinions and judgmental remarks, but I will continue to stand up for what I believe in and what I know in my heart are the right choices for us. I will live my life the way I know was born to live it.
Live. Learn. Love. Eat. 
My step daughter is doing the same thing, also has two foster twin black girls to raise with her 3 boys and 1 girl. You are doing great for you children. Don’t ever think you aren’t . Its the best thing for you and them and your husband. I happy home.

I admire the choices you have made for you and your family. They are unusual choices but they are your’s. If they make you and your family happy and creative then so be it. Some people would disagree but they are not living your life.

So….when are you moving closer to me?
I find it strange how many people think it odd that a woman would chose to stay home with her children these days. It wasn’t that long ago when most women stayed home, but it has quickly been forgotten.
I, like you, love staying home, being a part of the everyday with my little man, and my hubby. Homemaker isn’t a job title anymore, but it should be. I love being the keeper of our home, tending to the things that make our family happy, and creating a space where we can be ourselves.
It is the right choice for me, and my family too, my friend.

You go girl! You are the best Mom and the most imaginative teacher ever. Your girls are getting a well rounded education which encompasses not only the traditional Math and English etc., but also cooking, creative crafts, music, dance and experiencing nature. Keep up the good job.

I never regret being homeschooled. Many of my friends were homeschooled….and we turned out fine, successful, and well rounded. Most, of my former homeschooled friends are amazingly talented, love reading, and are very inquisitive people.
Homeschool is just another path through education. Not everyone has the option to travel it. Those that have the option to homeschool travel a path that looks different from public education. Both paths have joys, surprises, good days, bad days, fun days, inevitable mistakes, and unlimited possibilities. My mother chose the, “one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference” (Robert Frost)

Hi there, I just recently found you from a pin on Pinterest. I absolutely love reading about your journey! I am a stay at home mom to a 4 year old girl and 6 year old boy. My son just started school and it has been very difficult for me to let him go every morning. The only thing that makes it easier is that he absolutely loves school and my husband is a teacher at the small private school that he goes to. But it still doesn’t make it easy to “send him off” everyday knowing that I can (and sometimes wish) that I could home school him. I have my teaching degree, but I’m not sure if I’ll ever use it again. I absolutely love being a stay at home mom, and I am so thankful for women like you who feel the same! I only have one other friend that stays home, and everyone else can’t really understand why I would do such a thing! They think we sit all day and must be so bored, they have no idea! But I know you understand that this is the path we have chosen and it is full of exciting adventures and deep insights into who our children (and ourselves) really are. My husband and I worked it out so that I can have my son home at least on Mondays and it is definitely one of my favorite days! We cook, make crafts, paint, clean, listen to music, go to a park, meditate, etc! We have the best time! Thanks for doing what you do. Oh and I also wanted to say that I have been a vegetarian for 12 years now. I teach a free plant based class at my church and I also absolutely love sharing yummy vegan recipes! I’m excited to try out some of yours, they look amazing. I tried to follow you on Pinterest but I couldn’t find you. Do you have a Pinterest page? I also love sharing my knowledge of healthy food with others and I love how you said that you are also trying to leave a lighter footprint for our planet. Hi Diana! Yes, this path is absolutely filled with deep insights into our children, ourselves, and life. It anything but boring or easy! I find so much joy in it every day, even if there are challenging days (which there are plenty of with Serafina now). Things used to be much easier and it was easier to stay positive too. Now it is especially challenging to try and stay positive some days when all Serafina does is cry all day long. Not all days are like that of course, but there are days that are hard for her when she is sick or tired, or hungry because she can’t tell us what she needs.
I am lucky to have a husband who supports me and wants me staying home too. I am grateful that we share the same dreams for our children and same spiritual outlook on life. I think that other families who do not have the option to stay home and/or homeschool can also implement reading, crafts, games and music in their lives too. It would be extremely rewarding and fruitful for the children. Even though Craig is not home much of the time, he still takes time to do music with the girls, or read to them sometimes and we love to go for walks together when the weather is right for it. It is these little things that we will remember.

Hi Tiffany, I don’t think it is crazy at all to homeschool. The world now is so dangerous for kids commuting back and forth to and from school. I think everybody should homeschool. With the kind of food that they feed kids in some schools, well they could probably eat healthier at home. The only difference is that with a lot of kids across America the food that they get in school might be the only meal they get that day so I guess it goes both ways. I think it is nice that you get to bond with your kids and teach them the way you do.

I LOVE this post. As a fellow homeschooling mom, I get it and love it. Yes, we have our off days. But even in those we can find love and light.
And by the way in that one picture with the loaf of bread, well she looks like she is CLAIMING THAT BREAD! LOL Loved it. Mine would!
