I’m 19 weeks along now (almost halfway) and I’m finally starting to feel good. I’m also looking more pregnant now too. I definitely have a more round bump since week 16.
Baby is also busily kicking away in there, which I’ve been feeling since a little before week 15, but now I am not doubting what I feel really is baby. I feel him/her kicking and moving a lot when I sit down in the morning and plan our homeschool day and also a lot in the evening when we read or watch a movie.
Early May is when we are supposed to have our second ultrasound and hopefully then we can find out the gender because I am totally unprepared for a boy. If it’s a boy, we will definitely have some shopping and name hunting do.
Autumn and Kesa have been busy still with Rainbow Loom which is the handwork part of their homeschool. Kesa (aka “Little Loomer”) has wanted to start a YouTube channel of her own for a while now and so we filmed her first video on Sunday. She is actually really good! And making things on the Rainbow Loom is not easy! It’s nice that they make their own toys and will have them to show to their kids someday.
Our weather here in Manitoba is ridiculous! We were at a feel of -21 the other day and it is now the middle of April! To go for a walk you would not only need a hat and mitts, but a scarf too because the wind would bite so bad! It has been nice out yesterday and today, with the sun shining and the snow melting, so hopefully we will get our official spring soon.
Serafina was sick last week and we had a challenging week with her especially clothing-wise, but now she is feeling better and much happier and is back to being a sweetie (for now anyways). It’s so cute to see her and Kesa play together. Their latest game is where Kesa gets on all fours and Serafina rides on her back like she’s her pony.
We began reading “The Hobbit” together. Autumn also got the “Who Was J.R.R. Tolkien” book to read and add to her collection of “Who Was” books.
Autumn finished up her block on Ancient Greece and Kesa and Autumn are both on math now. Once spring officially arrives we’ll move on to Botany and Nature Study.
This morning I just baked a batch of Blueberry Banana Muffins and the kitchen smells so good! The girls are outside playing in the sunshine and we are about to head out for a walk to check the mail.

Hi Tiffany! It feels like such a long time since I’ve checked in with you. How exciting about your pregnancy, congrats! I bet you can’t wait to find out what gender you’re having. In my husband’s family it took 4 tries to have a boy, he’s the baby.
And guess what, we have just decided to homeschool! I have always wanted to try it, but after this year I really knew I wanted to do it. Both of my kiddos have had a pretty rough year with being in a super conservative school. And my son’s teacher has major issues in dealing with stress. As in banging her head on desks! 😦 I just can’t wait to know that my kiddos will soon be at home in a much more loving and unstressful enironment. I love being able to teach spontaneously. Kaia asked me today about how glass was made and we spent the afternoon learning about it and watching videos about the process. That would never happen in a public school.
I can’t wait to watch Kesa’s video! Kaia loves to do crafts, so we will definitely be watching that once it’s available. 🙂

That is so nice to hear that you are about to begin your homeschool journey with your kids! I’m sure there will be tough moments, but hang in there! And as you mentioned about your little learning experience with Kaia, that is one of the best ways to approach it. I found that trying to make it like school didn’t work at all! I wish you guys the best in that!

Thank you for the links Tiffany! And I just wanted you to know that following your blog and a few others have been part of the inspiration I needed to take the leap to try out homeschooling. I love hearing about the activities you and the girls get to do together instead of them being away from home for more than 8 hours every day. I’ll let ya know how it goes! Only 14 school day left here. Can I just ask if you try to do year round homeschooling? In my state the laws are extremely lenient, the only main requirement is that you teach for 180 days a years, so that’s 15 days a month. I’m thinking we’ll keep track of days because we have to, but in realty, almost every day real-life learning will take place. 🙂 Can’t wait to start!

Thank you Diana! That is so nice to hear! 🙂 I finally got my blog upgrade now and am feeling better too, so I will be blogging more and will be able to upload video and picture files! I feel behind on updating this space.
We still end up doing some things in the summer because I am so relaxed about our method that there are some days in the week that we often don’t do anything formally “school”. Like yesterday, when we had gender reveal excitement all day long. Still, in between we cleaned the house, the girls did dishes, helped me cook, watched their sister and worked on Rainbow Loom. They also went to the park. Things still get done in the day and like you said, there is always learning going on just in life.
I also like to keep them doing things all year just because I think too long of a break does lead to forgetfulness and it makes for less of a rush to get things done within a certain few months. But that’s just me. The things would be math, reading, and writing, but they just do crafty things for the writing part, like making their own stories up, or writing letters or birthday cards, for example. We are usually reading a book together, taking turns reading aloud. Right now we are reading, “The Hobbit”.
I hope you find your family homeschool rhythm. It may take a little experimenting, but you will find what works for you and your family!
