With there being only 18 more days until Christmas day, we decided that the house needed some more decorations to make it even more merry. The other day we were doing puzzles and realized that we had so many puzzles that were missing pieces. Instead of throwing them away, I thought that I could save them and use them for a craft. This morning I dug around in the recycling bin, got out some cardboard, paint, glitter and ribbon and we got busy making Puzzle Piece Christmas wreaths.
Puzzle Piece Christmas Wreaths
For this craft you will need
- Cardboard
- Puzzle pieces
- Glue
- Green paint
- Glitter or glitter glue
- Red or green ribbon
- Gems or sequins to decorate the wreath with
First, trace around a medium or large plate (depending on how big you want your wreath and how many puzzle pieces you have) onto the piece of cardboard. Cut out the large circle and then trace a smaller circle inside, using a smaller plate or small bowl. This is your wreath.
Next, glue the puzzle pieces onto the wreath however you want to.
Layering them makes for a fuller wreath.
Allow the glue to dry and then paint the wreath with green paint.
Allow the paint to dry, then decorate the wreath with the glitter/glitter glue and sequins or gems. Make a bow with the ribbon and glue the ribbon onto the top of the wreath. Allow to dry completely and then hang.
Kesa just painted and decorated her wreath without using the puzzle pieces.
Both the girls had a lot of fun painting and decorating these.
We hung them on our cork board along with the other Christmas crafts we have been making over the past few weeks.
Autumn lost another tooth last night!
It has been loose for quite a while, but she was so eager to lose it and has been wiggling it like crazy these days so that she could get money from the tooth fairy to use to buy Christmas presents. She got a whole dollar and was very excited. She has something in mind to get her sister and is saving up her money so that she can go Christmas shopping. She also says that she is going to get me that camera that I want, which I thought was so sweet.
I love being a stay-at-home mom and feel so grateful that I have the opportunity to raise and educate my daughters. Everyday I just can’t believe how much older my kids are getting! Autumn is getting big teeth already!? I feel like she was just born, but that was 6 years ago already. Where does the time go??
It is so special when the girls make their own decorations. I love them all!
