Healthy Naturally-Sweetened Edible Play Dough

Today was a beautiful sunshiny day! Autumn was gone for a sleepover with the grandparents, so it was just Kesa, Serafina, and I at home.

Serafina had two appointments this morning, one with an occupational therapist and one with her new child development worker, who she seems to really like. She got a lot of one-on-one today and really enjoyed the attention.

This afternoon, I felt inspired to do something fun with the two of them and something that I have been wanting to do for a while now is make a recipe for Serafina for edible play dough, but with healthy ingredients. Serafina still puts many things in her mouth and she really loves to eat Autumn and Kesa’s play dough if we aren’t careful. All of the recipes I have really come across have Jello or other refined sugars or colors in them, so I took to inventing my own healthy recipe for my kids, with ingredients that I feel good about them consuming.

Serafina had fun playing in the flour and tasting the play dough and Kesa was my great little kitchen helper and recipe inventor. We originally set out to make a chocolate flavored one and then ended up making a strawberry flavor one too because Serafina really loves her strawberries!

Serafina enjoyed playing with her strawberry play dough tonight and actually ate quite a lot of it. If your kids are not used to healthier ingredients and simpler tastes, they may not care so much for the strawberry flavor, but the chocolate cashew butter one is delicious for kids and adults too!
