Nausea has kicked in for me now, starting at around 5 weeks, 3 days. Basically, it is hard to get out of bed in the morning because it is usually accompanied by a headache. I used to get migraine headaches as a premenstrual symptom, and I haven’t had one for the past 5 weeks, until yesterday. Luckily daddy was home to take care of the girls, while I lay in bed trying to sleep it off. Today is better, though the nausea is still there. Going for a walk is kind of a thing of the past now too as I feel so queasy. All I can do really is sit or lay around, but I remember this with Serafina too. It seemed hard at first, but there was a light at the end of the sickness tunnel and then my appetite came back and I was able to cook and bake, clean and spend better time with my girls again. This time around I am blessed to have two helpers, Autumn and Kesa, to help clean up and watch their sister. We also still do our reading together, which is a nice, relaxing activity.

I am also having food aversions and basically want nothing to do with food. I have no appetite at all really, which is too bad because I like food, cooking, and eating. I’m sure it will come back again at some point, but for now I will have to get used to my sour stomach. I’m still trying to eat as healthy as I can when I do eat and making lots of banana ice cream. I got some bananas but they are still greenish and I am waiting for them to ripen, so today I made a sorbet with frozen raspberries and some Bolthouse Red Goodness smoothie, topped with fresh raspberries. Fruit and smoothies are somethings that don’t make me feel too sick and it is also loaded with vitamins and fiber.

Baby is the size of a blueberry tomorrow (6 weeks) and looks like a little dinosaur by the depiction of this cartoon picture on my Ovia pregnancy app, so now Autumn and Kesa and I nicknamed him/her, “little dino”.  My first prenatal appointment is also booked for February 11th.

I am still getting my “365 reasons why I love my wife” love mail every day from Craig, a nice surprise every morning. Day 169 was a really beautiful reason, “Because you made me into a Daddy”.

You might not hear from me too often on here because I am feeling pretty yucky. If I am not around, know that I am in my bed or on the couch, trying my best not to vomit. 🙂

  1. Oh! Sending you so much stable-tummy vibes… I was horribly nauseated for the first trimester with both my pregnancies so I totally feel your pain. Wish I was closer so I could help. Just try and get some warm stuff in you too okay? Eating nothing but cold in cold weather (according to my Chinese Doctor) is hard on your body. If you can manage any salt, what saved me with Little Man was warm (not hot) miso broth with grated fresh ginger. Helped with the nausea (ginger), the tummy (probiotics from miso) and headache (hydration and salt)… I could drink about 32 oz a day, but it felt SO good!!!! Hope it helps. xoxoxo

    • Thanks Yanic! I am able to eat other things too. Usually these days I just can’t seem to stomach much in the morning, but around 3:30 pm it gets better and I actually have an appetite. 🙂 Wish you were closer as well!

  2. Congratulations!! Wonderful news. Yet I’m so sorry for the nausea. I was like that terribly bad with all but the worst was my middle and I craved raspberries I would eat a frozen bag a day and that’s all I could eat. Maybe it’s a boy thing 😉 either way nausea is a good sign of a healthy baby. I’m glad the girls are helping their mama.
    Much love

  3. It is so hard. I’m just coming out of it and am finally starting to get excited about a baby. It makes us appreciate the miracle of it all, I guess, when the price is so high and the road so hard. Hugs!
