Although the winter days have been quite frigid, they have also been quite beautiful!
I actually love winter. I love the white snow. I love taking a brisk, cold morning walk. I love seeing bundled up children in cute animal hats who are so excited to get out in the snow to play, create and imagine.
I love baking with my girls and the scent of muffins, cinnamon buns or cookies in the oven that fills the house, giving a sense of warmth and comfort to our days.
Eating the baking is always good too! 🙂
The winter season also brings with it Christmas. We always put up our tree early because we love the lights and how beautiful the tree looks on dark winter nights. The girls were all very excited to decorate it. It was fascinating for Serafina!
The 9th was also our seven-year anniversary and our five-year wedding anniversary is on the 13th.
And last week our darling dancers had their Christmas dance recital.
Kesa is so much more into dancing this year, now that she is older. She was so excited for her concert to come and to wear her beautiful costume. She is on the far left and is performing a Suzy Snowflake tap dance.
Autumn has been in dance since she was three. Dance is her life and it shows. She is the one on the far left performing Rudolf The Red Nose Reindeer (a jazz dance).
The girls also made up a dance at home one evening and put on a show for me to Winter Wonderland by Jason Mraz. They are always dancing.
On the weekend we also made some more Christmas ornaments out of baking soda and cornstarch like we did back in 2011. These are a great craft and make great homemade Christmas gifts!
Other things that are warming my heart…
Cuddling sisters.
Raspberry Rudolph noses.
A girls obsession with sock monkeys and all things cuddly.
Time spent reading.
Finishing up our Botany unit and making many homeschool memories.
Apple stars.
So far it has been a wonderful beginning to winter!
Hope that you are all keeping warm! 🙂
Much Love,
Lots of goodness in your neck of the woods. Hope you are well.

Thanks! Kesa has organic dairy occasionally. I buy her cheese or yogurt for a treat. We all still use almond milk and soy cheese still for pizzas though. 🙂

It is colder here in the Southern US that it has been in many years. It made me think of you and the girls enjoying your snow days. Thinking of all of you and hoping you are all well and happy! 😻💜

I have been baking cookies like crazy these days! I love the Oatmeal Raisin ones from my book, with or without cinnamon and the Monster Wheat Germ cookies with cranberries instead of raisins. Baking is a great way to keep warm and not let the winter blahs get you down.
