Have you ever had a tangelo?
These are sooooo delicious. We tried them for the first time about a week ago when our curiosity got the best of us. They looked like a cross between a lemon and an orange and that got me interested. I love fruit so I thought why not try something new? The tangelo was sooooo good and juicy! These are very citrusy and have the perfect blend of sweet and tart flavors.
I figured that these would be perfect in a recipe that I thought up a while ago for orange creamsicles. The girls loved those creamsicles made with orange juice.
They indeed were yummy, but I thought that the orange flavor didn’t shine through as well as I would have liked it to. I made the recipe over a few times using different ratios of orange juice to silk milk until I got it down pretty well and was going to post it soon.
Along came the delicious tangelo! The orange creamsicle was old news and the tangleo creamsicle was born.
No offense orange, but I have moved on to better and juicier things.
Tangelo Creamsicles
A delicious creamy citrus treat that has all the flavor of a creamsicle.
Makes 8
Ingredients
- Juice of 5 tangelos (1 1/2 cups)*
- 1 cup Silk original soy milk (has to be this milk or it won’t be creamy)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
* You could also use orange juice if you like, but the tangelo gives a much better flavor.
Directions
Cut each tangelo in half and juice.
Add the silk milk and vanilla. Stir to combine.
Pour into popsicle molds.
Freeze.
Magic I tell you! 🙂
Even Serafina loves these! If the girls have one, she just begs for a taste.
Bring on the warm weather!
I´ve never heard of a Tangelo before..

I used to love creamsicles! Never seen tangelos before, but they sound yummy… Guess I’m stuck using boring old orange in mine 😦
