Summer is here and we are feeling the heat! We have been spending a lot of time at the beach these days. Autumn, Kesa and I love the water and Serafina loves the sand. I am such a water baby. I could swim around in a big blue lake for hours. We are lucky to live only 10 minutes away from a nice sandy beach and that Grandma and Gaga also live on the lake. Since I used to live on the lake, I would literally spend all day swimming or playing on the beach as a kid during the summer. Even today there is no place that I would rather be during summertime. We had a great Canada Day long weekend, which we spent every day on the beach too and visiting with family.
Lately we have also been enjoying so much delicious fresh fruit. Peaches, watermelon, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, pineapple. It seems that every time I go to the store I end up buying more fruit because it is all that any of us really want to be eating during these hot days. We can only go out for a walk early in the morning or the evening when the sun is not yet high in the sky. I also managed to sneak in a run a couple of mornings early (around 6:00 am) this week before anyone was up and Craig had to leave for work. It was so beautiful to watch the sun rise as I ran down the highway. Ironically, the song 93 Million Miles by Jason Mraz came on my random playlist, which made for a quite remarkable moment. FYI a great post-run or workout food is oatmeal with fresh fruit and hemp seed! I am addicted to eating this these days. So delicious!
I’ve also been enjoying this sweet angel face too. Today she actually let me snap a picture of her. Usually she is too on-the-go to slow down and sit with her momma.
(Excuse the backwards dress, her sisters dressed her). 🙂
I hope you are all having a great summer too! What sweet summer things have you been enjoying these days?
Looks like you have gotten summer off to a great start. Enjoy!

Very cute! Glad you are enjoying summer & getting some warm weather up in Canada. I know it’s inaccurate, but I never picture it getting warm enough up there to go to the beach.

What a nice summer you must be having! The dress is so cute, did she wear it like that all day? We have been growing blueberries and blackberries for years and this is the first year I had some to freeze. We usually eat them as fast as we can pick them!
I must confess, like Rowena, I don’t think of hot summer and Canada being in conjunction, lol! I have learned something new. 🙂

She wore the dress like that all evening. I think they were confused because she has another dress that buttons at the front which we had backwards on her the other day, when the buttons were supposed to be in the back. I think she still looks sweet and it was a nice idea for them to pick a dress for her to wear. 🙂 I wish you could share those fresh berries! Serafina can eat a pint of berries to herself in under 3 minutes. It can cost a lot to buy enough fruit for all of us. I usually just buy big bags of frozen fruit and thaw it out, but the fresh fruit looked so good and is great for snacking on and throwing into oatmeal. It has been in the 30’s for over a week now and so that is hot for us here. 🙂 I know it seems like hot Canada is an oxymoron, kind of like awfully delicious or jumbo shrimp. lol.

I agree about the fruit – I’ve been eating far too many strawberries to contemplate much else 😉
