We have been celebrating summer since the solstice and are continuing to do so for the next couple of days, up to Saint John’s Day.
On the 21st we took a nice long walk together around the river and it was HOT! We stopped under some beautiful willow trees and the girls played with their “babies” while Craig and I relaxed (or nearly died from the heat and feeling of laziness in our whole bodies). I really feel that since the solstice I have been extra sleepy. The full power of the sun being overhead seems to be putting everyone to sleep with its power.
The next morning I woke up the girls early and we made a fruit pizza for breakfast and decorated with fresh strawberries and diced peaches.
I even bought little rainbow star sprinkles for them to use as a treat.
We drew a picture of the archangel Uriel, the archangel for summer whose name means “God is my light.”

The girls also made butterflies to make the house more summery.
I also thought up the idea to do a craft with the girls, making sunshine’s using red lentils and yellow split peas.
We spent some time visiting family and planted some more things in the garden. The girls also have their own little garden by their tire swing where they planted some flowers.
We saw a double rainbow on the drive home from visiting our family.
And at night we had banana pancakes for dinner then read some fairy tales and a children’s version of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Serafina loves the dandelions.
And daddy’s guitar case.
The girls still are playing house everyday and their families are growing. Everyday they have more babies.
And here are some picture of us before and after our haircuts.
And our attempt at a family picture on the beach from about a month ago.
Hope you are enjoying the summer so far! 🙂
