Autumn tried her hand at baking all by herself the other day. We finished up a unit on measurement a few weeks ago and she really wanted to do some recipes to practice what she had learned. So, we got out our well-used cookbook and she chose some recipes to make.
She made Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies, Tahini Cranberry Cookies and Coconut Apricot Granola. She really has been ready for this for quite a while, but I guess I was the one who was being all uptight about just letting her do it. To my surprise, she hardly asked me any questions, insisted on being alone and doing it herself and she even cleaned up her own mess! I did the dishes, but she put all of her ingredients away when she was done!
I was quite impressed and the cookies and granola were perfect! π
This makes me think that I will now have some wonderful help around the kitchen! The best thing too is that she said she wants to be just like me one day, a mother who cooks and cleans for her family. That really melted my heart. I can’t believe how much she is growing and changing into such a young woman. A young woman I am proud to call my daughter.
very nice job Autumn!

Way to go Autumn, and way to go mama…the letting go is the hardest part π Looks like she handled it all with ease.

Autumn is such a wonderful young lady. When I was her age all I could do was heat up canned soup. My cook book looks all used up too because I use it often.

Yay, Autumn! I was about her age when I started cooking some things on my own. One of my firsts was cornbread, and after that I was the one who always made the cornbread!
