My little baby girl turned one today.
For her birthday cake I made a butterfly cake! I made a healthy Maple Oatmeal Cake with Coconut Whipped Cream and Fresh Fruit for her instead of the usual fondant cakes that I do. The body of the butterfly is made of Banana Muffins (minus the blueberries).
I made two 9 inch Maple Oatmeal Cakes and stacked them on top of each other to make two layers and I had to use 6 muffins for the body, three on the bottom and three stacked on top to be as tall as the cakes.
Then I slathered on the delicious whipped cream.
And the girls and I added the chopped fruit.
They loved to taste the whipped cream along the way.
We just had the grandparents over for cake in the evening and watched a slideshow of pictures I put together of Serafina’s first year.
I know I say it all the time, but it really has flown by. It feels like just yesterday that she was born!
She LOVED her cake!! 🙂
And for her gift we bought her a set of wooden blocks. It was hard to find something we didn’t already have and these seemed educational and useful. With having three kids and each of them getting birthday presents and Christmas presents, I feel like we own everything that they could possibly need for their lifetime already.
And that was our little girl’s birthday celebration!
I also snapped a nice picture of the three of them outside today, since they were dressed up so nicely. I took about a hundred of them and got one decent one, so I count that as success!
Happy Birthday Serafina! 🙂
